Staff Summary

The Montessori approach to education is grounded in the belief that children have a dynamic inner desire to explore and learn about their environment.  Their environment is maintained by a number of people.  Our Directors and aides have contact with your child every day in their room.  However we also have specialty staff for subjects such as music, French and physical education.  These specialty directors work with the children not only in their subject time but also have contact with them at recess as they handle recess supervision.  The administrative staff are available to parents, students and staff daily.  Many of our administrative staff do room and recess supervision as well.  The Allegro Team welcomes you to Allegro Montessori School.

The Classroom Director

An adult well trained in Montessori philosophy and teaching methods is the key link between the child and the environment. In Montessori classroom, the term “Director” is used to describe the role of the guiding adult. The director, who is specially trained in observation of child development, will assess when it is time to offer a new challenge to the child and will demonstrate the use of materials. The director assists the child’s progress with attentive care, fostering a positive, loving atmosphere for the child.
